One Minute NLP – Using NLP to overcome procrastination

Procrastination can be a major roadblock to productivity, but NLP offers techniques to help you break the cycle.

One effective NLP method is Future Pacing. Start by visualizing yourself completing the task which you have been putting off. Imagine the sense of relief and accomplishment you’ll feel once it’s done. Focus on how your future self benefits from taking action now.

Another approach is using Submodalities. If the task seems overwhelming, try visualizing it as smaller, less intimidating. Picture it in black-and-white or shrink it down in your mind to make it feel more manageable.

Finally, the Swish Pattern can be used to replace the urge to procrastinate with a strong desire to take action. Picture yourself avoiding the task, then quickly replace that image with one of you successfully completing it.

Use these NLP techniques to rewire your mind to overcome procrastination and boost your productivity.

Meta Magic – Two Paths to Your Purpose

Two friends from the same village decided to embark on a journey into the unknown. Neither had chosen a specific city to head towards, but both agreed it would be wise to seek the blessings of the Sage who lived in the nearby forest.

“Respected Guruji, we have come to seek your blessings as we set out to explore other cities and begin new journeys of our own,” one of the friends requested, folding his hands in respect.

“I am pleased to hear about your new journey, my sons. I wonder, what prompted you to leave your city and seek a new path?” the Sage asked, raising his eyebrows.

“I despise my city because the people there are selfish. I’m moving to a new city where I can find my purpose and live abundantly,” one of the friends replied enthusiastically.

“Oh, my son! In that case, I’m afraid you won’t find any city that will grant you eternal abundance,” the Sage advised, urging him to reconsider and return to his city.

“Oh revered Sage! I love my city deeply, and I’m curious to discover the many other beautiful and fulfilling cities out there. I simply want to experience similar goodness in other places,” the other friend responded with a warm smile, his love for his city evident in his eyes.

“Bravo, my son! Go forth on your journey into the unknown. I know you will find your purpose. My blessings are with you,” the Sage said, placing his hand on the second friend’s head in blessing.

Our lives reflect our perceptions. If we only see darkness in the present, that same darkness will surround us. But if we light up from within and perceive light outside, life will mirror that brightness.

When it comes to finding purpose, which path will you choose?

Hook From The Book

“Happiness is a mental habit, a mental attitude, and if it is not learned and practised in the present, it is never experienced. It cannot be made contingent upon solving some external problem. When one problem is solved, another appears to take its place. Life is a series of problems. If you are to be happy at all, you must be happy – period! Not happy “because of”.” ― Maxwell Maltz, Psycho-Cybernetics

Movie Motivation

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.” This quote from the movie The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring emphasizes the importance of choice and decision-making, which teaches that we are in control of our responses and actions in any given situation.

One Minute NLP – Anchoring Positive Emotions

Anchoring is a powerful NLP technique that allows you to trigger positive emotions on demand.

The concept is simple: by associating a specific gesture, word, or touch with a positive emotional state, you can “anchor” that feeling to be recalled whenever needed. Here is how it works:

  1. Recall a Positive Memory: Think of a moment when you felt truly confident, happy, or motivated. Immerse yourself in that memory, focusing on the feelings it evokes.
  2. Set the Anchor: While fully experiencing the positive emotion, choose a simple gesture or word, like pressing your thumb and forefinger together or saying a word like “power.” This gesture or word becomes your anchor.
  3. Reinforce the Anchor: Repeat the process several times, each time reinforcing the association between the gesture or word and the positive emotion.
  4. Use the Anchor: In moments of stress or doubt, use the anchor to instantly recall the positive emotions and boost your state of mind.

Anchoring is a quick and effective way to manage emotions, stay motivated, and enhance performance in any situation.

Meta Magic – The Deer Or The Bird?

A poor man, who relied on hunting to feed himself, set out on his hunt.

“Ah, luck is on my side today. The journey has just begun, and I already see the bird,” he said to himself.

The bird, perched on a low branch, was easy to catch.

The poor man decided to call it a day and head back home.

Just as he was turning around, he spotted a plump and healthy deer grazing nearby. The poor man’s eyes suddenly gleamed with greed.

He drew his bow and arrow, aiming for the deer. He knew the bird would fly away as soon as he set it aside, but he was undeterred, for all he could focus on was the deer before him. His mouth watered at the thought of feasting on the deer.

He took a deep breath and closed his eyes to steady his aim, but alas! The deer heard the bird’s flapping wings and spotted the poor man. In an instant, it fled.

Now, the poor man was left with nothing. Like a fleeting dream, the deer had vanished, and the bird, his certain meal, had flown away.

My question to you is: Are you chasing the deer and letting go of your bird?

Hook From The Book

“But books were different. They had lots of blanks. Blanks between words and even between lines. I could squeeze myself in there and sit, or walk, or scribble down my thoughts. It didn’t matter if I had no idea what the words meant. Turning the pages was half the battle.” ― Won-pyung Sohn, Almond

One Minute NLP – The Fast Phobia Cure

Phobias can significantly impact one’s quality of life, but NLP offers a technique called the Fast Phobia Cure to help overcome them quickly and effectively. This process is also called as the V-K Dissociation where V-K stands for Visual-Kinesthetic.

The Fast Phobia Cure involves disassociating from the source causing the phobia. Here’s a brief overview:

  1. Visualize a Movie Screen: Imagine watching the phobia-inducing event on a movie screen, as if you are an audience member in a theater.
  2. Disassociation: Picture yourself watching a black-and-white movie of the event from a safe distance. This creates emotional detachment from the memory.
  3. Rewind and Fast Forward: Play the movie backwards and forwards quickly, several times. This confuses the brain’s neural pathways and reduces the emotional impact.
  4. Notice the change in the Emotions: After multiple replays, notice what you now feel about the source of the phobia.

Fast Phobia Cure can reprogram the brain to lessen the fear associated with the phobia, leading to a more empowered and fearless life.

Meta Magic – Is Kindness Always Aesthetic?

“I am the most beautiful flower of all. Huh! Just that I am wrongly placed.” A beautiful red rose stood tall, proud of its looks, and sighed at its situation.

“Why do you think you’re wrongly placed?” asked a nearby Lily.

The Rose gave a sideways glance at the Cactus plant and sneered, “Can’t you see? Do I deserve to be placed next to this thorny, ugly Cactus?”

Days went by, and suddenly, a drought hit the whole land. Rivers, lakes, and ponds dried up. Many plants, including the Lily, wilted and started to die from lack of water. The scorching Sun made things worse for everyone. The Rose, too, was struggling to survive.

Then the Rose noticed something surprising. The Cactus was still green, and to top it off, a bird came and drank water from the Cactus. The Rose’s pride shattered into pieces. Feeling helpless, it started to cry.

“My beauty is useless in a drought,” the Rose sobbed.

The Cactus heard and moved closer. “You can have some of my stored water, dear Rose,” it offered.

My question to you is: Which people have surprised you by their kindness when you had already discarded them based on their appearance?

Hook From The Book

“We are made up of different parts, some good, some bad, and a healthy mind can tolerate this ambivalence and juggle both good and bad at the same time. Mental illness is precisely about a lack of this kind of integration – we end up losing contact with the unacceptable parts of ourselves.” ― Alex Michaelides, The Silent Patient

Unlock the Guru Within: Embrace Your Inner Wisdom This Guru Purnima

Unlock the Guru Within: Embrace Your Inner Wisdom This Guru Purnima

On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, a day dedicated to honouring our teachers and guides, let’s take a moment to reflect on an often-overlooked source of wisdom: the Guru within us.

What is a Guru?

Traditionally, a Guru is seen as a teacher or spiritual guide who imparts knowledge and wisdom. They are the ones who illuminate our path, helping us navigate through the complexities of life. But what if I told you that there’s a Guru residing within you, always ready to guide and support you?

Discovering Your Inner Guru

While we may often look externally for guidance and validation, it is easy to forget that we possess a wealth of wisdom within ourselves. This inner Guru is the inner voice that whispers truths and nudges you towards the right path. One of the key principles from Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is the presupposition that “Everyone has all the resources they need”. This means you already have the internal tools and wisdom to guide your journey. Here is how you can tap into that inner wisdom:

1. Listen to Yourself

In our busy lives, we rarely take a moment to sit in silence and listen to our thoughts and feelings. Spend a few minutes each day in quiet reflection. Pay attention to what your inner voice is telling you. This practice can help you make better decisions and understand yourself more deeply.

2. Trust Your Intuition

Your intuition is like a compass, guiding you towards what feels right. Trust it. If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. Conversely, if you feel a strong pull towards a particular decision or path, consider it seriously. Your inner Guru often knows what’s best for you, even when your logical mind is unsure.

3. Learn from Your Experiences

Every experience, whether positive or negative, carries a lesson. Reflect on your past experiences and identify the lessons they’ve taught you. This reflection can provide invaluable insights and help you avoid repeating past mistakes. Your inner Guru grows wiser with each lesson learned.

4. Practice Self-Compassion

Being kind to yourself is crucial in nurturing your inner Guru. When you make a mistake, don’t be too hard on yourself. Instead, view it as an opportunity to learn and grow. Self-compassion strengthens your inner wisdom and helps you stay resilient in the face of challenges.

5. Seek Balance

Balance is key to maintaining a strong connection with your inner Guru. Ensure that you are giving attention to all aspects of your life – work, relationships, health, and personal growth. A balanced life creates a harmonious environment where your inner wisdom can flourish.

Everyone Has All the Resources They Need

This principle from NLP reminds us that we possess all the necessary resources within ourselves to overcome challenges and achieve our goals. By believing in this, we empower our inner Guru. It’s a reminder that the answers we seek are often within us, waiting to be discovered and utilized.

Unlock the Guru within you and lead a more fulfilling, enlightened life.

Happy Guru Purnima! May you always find wisdom and guidance within yourself.

“I want to love you without clutching, appreciate you without judging, join you without invading, invite you without demanding, leave you without guilt, criticize you without blaming, and help you without insulting. If I can have the same from you, then we can truly meet and enrich each other.” – Virginia Satir

One Minute NLP – Overcoming Limiting Beliefs

Limiting beliefs can hold us back from reaching our full potential, but NLP offers effective techniques to overcome them.

Identify Your Limiting Beliefs: First, recognize the beliefs that are restricting your growth or causing self-doubt. These beliefs often start with phrases like “I can’t,” “I’m not good enough,” or “It’s too difficult.”

Challenge Your Beliefs: Question the validity of these beliefs. Are they based on facts or assumptions? Often, they stem from past experiences or fear of failure.

Reframe Your Beliefs: Use NLP techniques to reframe limiting beliefs into empowering ones. For example, replace “I can’t do this” with “I haven’t mastered this yet, but I’m learning and improving every day.”

Meta Magic – The 3 Questions

“Oh, Wise Hermit! I have come to you seeking answers to these three questions:

1. What is the right time to do anything?

2. Who should be the most important person?

3. What is the right task to do?

Can you please help me?”

The King humbly asked the Hermit, but the Hermit silently kept digging the ground in the forest. The King determined to get the answers, offered to help the Hermit. After an hour of digging, the King asked the questions again. The Hermit got up and asked the King to hand the tool back, but the King kept digging. The Sun began to sink down behind the trees, and it was dusk already.

Just then, a wounded farmer came running towards them, bleeding from his stomach. The King and the Hermit quickly helped him. The King cleaned and bandaged the wound. Once the bleeding stopped, the man revealed that he had come to kill the King as he knew he was alone in the forest. The King had declared a wrong verdict a year ago, which caused the farmer’s son to commit suicide as he was unable to pay the fine. The revenge got the better of the farmer, and he thought it was the right time to kill the King. But now that the King had helped in saving his life, he promised to serve him forever.

Before leaving, the King reminded the Hermit for the answers.

“You have already got the answers, my dear King. Haven’t you?” The Hermit replied. The King looked at him with confusion and curiosity.

“When you saw me struggling to dig the ground, it was the right time for you to help me. I was the most important person then, and helping me with the digging was the right task. Then came this wounded man. It was the right time for him to kill you, but it was also your right time to settle the scores with your good karma, which you did. That wounded man was the most important person for you then, and helping him heal was the right task for you.” The Hermit waited to let it all sink in for the King.

“So you mean there is no right time, no right person, no right task, and it keeps changing from moment to moment?” The King’s eyes got wider in surprise.

“No. The right time is always NOW. The most important person is the person you are with. The right task is to do good to that person.” The Hermit smiled.
