⏳ One Minute NLP

NLP for Instant State Shifts

Ever felt stuck in a bad mood and just couldn’t snap out of it? NLP teaches that your emotional state isn’t fixed—it’s flexible. And you can shift it in seconds by changing your physiology, focus, or self-talk.

Start with your body. Stand up straight, breathe deeply, lift your chest, and smile—even if you don’t feel like it. Your brain takes cues from your posture. Change the way you move, and you change the way you feel.

Then, shift your focus. Ask yourself, “What’s something I’m grateful for right now?” or “What can I look forward to today?” Your mind goes where your questions lead it.

Finally, change your inner voice. Instead of “This is too hard,” say “I’ve handled worse—let’s go.” Say it with energy.

In just a minute, you can move from stuck to strong. From flat to fired-up. Your state is yours to shift—any time you choose.

Who Decides Where The Bullseye Is?

In a peaceful little village nestled among green hills, a famous archer once came for a visit. As he walked through the village, something strange caught his eye.

Walls—dozens of them—covered with painted targets. And right in the middle of every single one? An arrow. Perfectly shot. Bullseye after bullseye.

The archer couldn’t believe it.
“Who’s the genius behind this?” he asked, completely amazed.

The villagers started laughing.
“Oh that? That’s just our village fool!”

The archer raised an eyebrow. “Fool or not, I want to meet him. This kind of aim is no joke.”

Soon, the “fool” showed up—messy hair, a cheeky grin, and eyes full of mischief.
The archer greeted him with deep respect.
“Tell me your secret,” he said. “How do you always hit the bullseye?”

The fool leaned in, like he was about to whisper an ancient trick. Then he laughed and said,
“Oh, that’s easy! I shoot the arrow first… and then I draw the target around it!”

The archer was stunned—and then he smiled.

Because in that silly-sounding answer was a powerful truth:
Success isn’t always about hitting the “right” target. Sometimes, it’s about making the target after you’ve taken the shot. It’s about seeing meaning in where you land.

So my question to you is — Are you too focused on hitting a fixed goal? Or are you open to creating new meaning from where your arrow lands?

🎬 Movie Motivation

“Which would be worse, to live as a monster or to die as a good man?” This dialogue from the movie Shutter Island is a powerful reframe, showing how a person can reinterpret a painful truth and make a choice aligned with their deeper values and preferred self-image.

April Fool May Be Harmless; Being an Emotional Fool Is Not.

April Fool May Be Harmless; Being an Emotional Fool Is Not.

Let’s be honest – April 1st comes with its own disclaimer: “Don’t believe everything today!” So we double-check our chairs, second-guess every “breaking news” headline, and laugh off the silly pranks.

But here’s a thought – what if we were just as alert when it came to our emotions?
What if we stopped falling for the same old emotional traps: reacting without thinking, trusting too soon, or letting someone else pull our puppet strings?

Because while April Fool’s jokes wear off by sunset, being an emotional fool?
That can linger way longer – and hurt a lot more.

So let’s unpack this. Not with judgment – but with curiosity. Because it’s not about switching off your emotions… it’s about turning on your awareness.

🎭 1. The Repeat Button of Life: Are You Being Played?

Some people have a magical talent. Not juggling or fire-breathing…
I’m talking about their uncanny ability to push your emotional buttons – repeatedly.

It could be that colleague who guilt-trips you into extra work.
Or the friend who only calls when they need something (but hey, they “missed you!”)
Sound familiar?

🧠 NLP Nudge: Start spotting patterns.
Not outside first – within. Who drains your energy? Who lifts it? What do you keep allowing?

📌 Quick Micro-Shift:
If you often say, “Why does this always happen to me?” – flip it. Rethink:
👉 “What’s the pattern here, and how can I respond differently?”

🧨 2. Are Your Emotions on a Tripwire?

You walk into a room.
Someone says that tone.
Boom. You’re spiralling.

What just happened? That, my friend, is an anchor – a moment that triggers a state from your past.
Some people (and some advertisers) know how to activate these like pros.

💡 NLP Trick: You can create your own anchors! Want calm? Confidence? Joy? You can train your brain to access those states on cue.

📌 Quick Micro-Shift:
Design a simple anchor. A hand gesture. A word. A deep breath.
Repeat it while feeling calm or powerful – and soon, it’ll be your go-to rescue button.

🤯 3. Don’t Take It Personally (Even If It Feels Personal)

Someone criticises your idea.
Do you immediately think: “They don’t like me”?

Hold up.

What if… it’s not about you at all?

Reframing is the secret sauce. It doesn’t mean denial – it means flexibility.
Instead of: “They’re attacking me”
Rethink: “They’re offering a perspective I didn’t consider.”

🧠 NLP Nudge: Your mind is a meaning-making machine. So why not upgrade the meaning?

📌 Quick Micro-Shift:
Ask yourself: “What else could this mean?”
That one question can save you a world of emotional overreaction.

🚧 4. Boundary Issues? It’s Not Rude to Be Clear.

Being kind is cool.
Being a doormat? Not so much.

Emotional fools often say yes when they mean no… and then feel resentful. That’s a recipe for emotional burnout.

🧠 NLP Insight: Your language reflects your mindset.
Start replacing “I can’t say no” with “I choose to protect my peace.”

📌 Quick Micro-Shift:
Say this out loud:
“That doesn’t work for me.”
No drama. No excuses. Just clarity. Practice it till it feels empowering.

🕵️ 5. Trust is Beautiful… Until It’s Blind

Let’s get real – some people are walking charm machines.
But charm without consistency? That’s just performance.

Don’t confuse words with trust. Trust is built on behaviour.

🧠 NLP Reminder: You don’t have to distrust everyone. Just stay awake.
Test and verify. Trust with eyes open.

📌 Quick Micro-Shift:
Before giving someone emotional access, ask:
✔ “Do their actions match their words?”
✔ “Am I feeling this, or choosing this?”

🎉 Final Thought: Be Wise, Not Wounded

You can still laugh at jokes, pull pranks, and enjoy the fun of April Fool’s Day.

Just don’t carry that same foolishness into your emotional world.

This April 1st, let’s not just dodge pranks – we dodge patterns, triggers, and puppet strings too.

Because emotional wisdom isn’t about being serious all the time.
It’s about knowing when to play along – and when to walk away.

⏳ One Minute NLP

NLP for Enhancing Focus

Struggling to stay focused? NLP can help you train your mind to tune out distractions and zoom in on what matters. One simple way is by controlling your internal dialogue. Notice what you say to yourself when your mind wanders—it’s often unhelpful chatter like “I can’t concentrate” or “This is too much.”

Now, flip the script. Replace it with a clear, empowering command: “Right now, I choose to focus.” Say it with certainty, even in your mind.

Pair this with visualisation—imagine your mind as a camera lens, sharpening only on what you need to see, and blurring everything else. The clearer your internal picture, the sharper your real-world focus becomes.

With practice, you teach your brain to respond differently. NLP turns focus into a skill—not a struggle. One thought, one image, one choice at a time.

The Subtle Art of Not Taking a F

Monty Roberts, a well-known horse ranch owner in San Isidro, often lends his beautiful home for his friend’s fundraisers supporting at-risk youth.

One day, someone asked him, “Monty, why are you always so generous with your space?”

Monty smiled, his eyes softening with emotion. Before anyone could say more, he drifted into a memory from his past.

“I was a teenager,” he began. “Our teacher gave us an assignment—to write about what we wanted to be when we grew up. I poured my heart into it. Seven pages. I described my dream in detail: a 200-acre horse ranch with a 4,000-square-foot home. I even included drawings of the layout.

Two days later, the paper came back with a big red ‘F’ across the top. My teacher told me, ‘Monty, this dream is unrealistic. You don’t have the money, the background, or the connections to make it happen. Rewrite it with something more achievable, and I’ll consider changing your grade.’

I was crushed. When I shared this with my father, he said something I’ll never forget: ‘Son, you have to make your own choice on this.’

I thought about it for a whole week. Then I turned in the exact same paper.

‘You can keep the F,’ I told my teacher. ‘I’ll keep my dream.’”

Monty paused, then looked around.

“And here we are today—standing in the middle of my 200-acre ranch, inside my 4,000-square-foot house. That paper, the one I refused to change, is now framed above my fireplace.”

My question to you is — Are you taking the F given to you by others?

📖 Hook from the Book

“People you love never die. That is what Omai had said, all those years ago. And he was right. They don’t die. Not completely. They live in your mind, the way they always lived inside you. You keep their light alive. If you remember them well enough, they can still guide you, like the shine of long-extinguished stars could guide ships in unfamiliar waters.” — Matt Haig, How to Stop Time

🎬 Movie Motivation

“The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.” This dialogue from Moulin Rouge speaks to the power of emotional alignment and connection. In NLP, cultivating positive emotional states and fostering supportive relationships are seen as fundamental for personal well-being and growth.

Can You Be More Than Your Personality Type?

Can You Be More Than Your Personality Type?

“Aisa hi hoon main…”

That iconic line from countless Bollywood dramas where the protagonist defends a character flaw with pride. A burst of melodrama. A touch of music. A sharp close-up. But also—if you think about it—a subtle sign of resignation.

I’ve seen a similar scene unfold in training rooms, coaching sessions, and conversations around psychometric reports.

“Oh, I’m an introvert… that’s why I don’t speak much in meetings.”

“I’m a red on DISC… I have to lead. I can’t do followership.”

“Low adaptability score? That’s just how I am.”

And just like that, a simple assessment becomes a sentence. A few coloured graphs or alphabets start defining our potential. Instead of using the report as a mirror, we start using it as a mask.

Let me say this out loud: You are not your PRISM profile. Or your MBTI code. Or your DISC letter.

You are not a report.

You are a possibility.

When Awareness Becomes a Cage

Imagine receiving a map that tells you where you are. Great. It shows the terrain, the landmarks, maybe even your current location blinking in blue. But what if you start mistaking that blue dot as your destination?

That’s exactly what happens when people take psychometric assessments and start defending their results instead of developing from them.

As I often say, you defend what you define.

And that’s dangerous.

Because the moment you say “this is who I am,” you unknowingly shut the door to “this is who I could become.”

Psychometric tools are brilliant. I personally love working with PRISM Brain Mapping—especially because it brings neuroscience into the mix. These tools can give you incredible insights about your behavioural preferences, strengths, and areas of development.

But the key word here is preferences. Not permanence.

The Real Power Lies in What You Do With the Insights

Let me share a quick story.

A young manager I once coached came out of a PRISM session visibly disturbed.

He said, “This says I don’t naturally show empathy. Does that mean I’ll never be a good leader?”

I smiled and said, “It also says you’re naturally high on logical thinking. So let’s logically look at this: Is empathy a skill or a genetic mutation?”

He grinned. The switch had flipped.

Awareness is where the journey begins—not ends.

And that’s where Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) enters like a wise mentor in a movie—offering perspective, flexibility, and tools to shift.

The NLP Bridge: From Personality to Possibility

NLP is built on three elegant pillars:

  1. Sensory Awareness:

This is your current reality. The ability to observe yourself and others without judgement. This is where psychometric tools come in. They shine a light on patterns you may not even be aware of.

So yes—use the assessments. Take the test. Understand your map. That’s Pillar 1.

  1. Outcome Orientation:

Now ask yourself—what do I want to achieve? What kind of leader, parent, coach, or friend do I want to become? This is the direction you want to head toward. Your personal GPS coordinates for growth. That’s Pillar 2.

  1. Behavioural Flexibility:

This is where the magic happens. NLP gives you techniques to change patterns, reframe beliefs, manage emotional states, and create new behaviours. It’s about finding another way when one route is blocked. This is Pillar 3.

When you integrate these three, something powerful unfolds.

From I am this way
To I’ve noticed I tend to respond this way
To I’m learning new ways to respond
To I can choose how I respond.

A Little Bollywood, A Lot of Truth

Remember Chak De! India?

Each player had a strength. A dominant zone. A predictable behaviour. But victory didn’t come from playing solo in their comfort zones. It came from adapting, collaborating, and stepping into roles they never thought they could play.

That’s behavioural flexibility.

That’s NLP.

And that’s where psychometric assessments become fuel for transformation—not a label for limitation.

From Labels to Leverage

So the next time someone says, “I’m an ENTJ,” or “I’m a Blue-Green,” smile and ask them, “Lovely. And what would you like to become?”

Because once you start asking the right questions, definitions lose their grip. And possibilities begin.

After all, you are not a label on a report.

You are a story still being written.

And the pen is in your hands.

So, the real question is—are you ready to shift from this is who I am to this is who I can become?

Are you willing to use your self-awareness not as a conclusion, but as a courageous beginning?

Because if you are, then I invite you to take this exploration deeper—with us, in person.

On 31st May & 1st June 2025, join me, Deepti Jandial and Huzefa Hakim at Hotel Ramanashree Richmond Circle, Bengaluru for a transformational, 2-day workshop: “SH!FT HAPPENS — From Personality to Possibility”—where psychometric insights meet NLP tools to help you rewire your patterns, reimagine your outcomes, and reclaim your flexibility.

It’s time to stop being boxed in by a personality type and start building the life you truly want—one conscious choice at a time.

Design Your Quarter: The Power of Clarity, Momentum & Execution

Design Your Quarter: The Power of Clarity, Momentum & Execution

Let’s be honest—most New Year resolutions don’t even make it past February. That initial excitement? Gone. The vision board? Gathering dust. And those grand plans? Well… life happened.

But what if I told you there’s a better way to set and achieve goals—one that keeps your focus sharp, your momentum strong, and your execution consistent?

Enter: Quarterly Planning. Or as I like to call it—Design Your Quarter.

Because let’s face it, a year is just too long to plan effectively.

Think about it:

  • A year gives you too much room to procrastinate (“I still have time… I’ll start later.”)
  • A year makes it easy to lose focus (“Wait, what was my goal again?”)
  • A year doesn’t allow for quick course corrections (“I set that goal 8 months ago, but now things have changed.”)

But 90 days?

  • That’s short enough to stay focused but long enough to see real progress.
  • That’s urgent enough to take action now but flexible enough to adapt as needed.
  • That’s manageable enough for your brain to stay engaged without getting overwhelmed.

In fact, high achievers across industries—from business leaders to elite athletes—operate on quarterly execution cycles, not yearly ones. The best-selling book The 12 Week Year by Brian Moran is built entirely on this concept:

👉 A quarter is not just a chunk of time—it’s a system for high performance.

Why Designing Your Quarter Works Better Than Annual Goal Setting

Imagine you are driving at night. Your car’s headlights illuminate only a few hundred meters ahead—but that’s enough to get to your destination.

That’s what quarterly planning does. It doesn’t overwhelm you with the entire journey. Instead, it helps you focus on what’s immediately ahead—while keeping the bigger vision in mind.

1️⃣ Clarity: The Power of a Defined Focus

Have you ever felt busy but not productive? Like you are putting in effort but not really moving the needle? That’s usually because you are spread too thin.

Quarterly planning forces you to cut the noise and zoom in on the few things that actually matter. Instead of juggling 10 half-baked goals over 12 months, you pick 2-3 high-impact objectives for the next 90 days.

💡 Example: Instead of vaguely saying, “I want to get healthier this year,” you get specific:
👉 “For the next 90 days, I will exercise 4 times a week and meal prep on Sundays.”

Boom. Clear, measurable, and achievable.

2️⃣ Momentum: Small Wins That Keep You Moving

Have you ever tried pushing a stalled car? The hardest part is getting it to move initially. But once it starts rolling, it gains momentum and gets easier to push.

That’s exactly how execution works.

  • When goals feel too far away, motivation drops.
  • When we don’t see quick wins, we start doubting ourselves.
  • When progress is slow, we quit.

But a 90-day sprint gives you shorter feedback loops. You see results faster, adjust quicker, and stay motivated because progress is tangible.

💡 Example: Let’s say you are growing your business. Instead of saying, “I want to double my revenue this year,” you set a quarterly focus:
👉 “In the next 90 days, I will increase sales by 20% by launching a new marketing campaign.”

Now, every week, you know exactly what to track. And every small win fuels the next one.

3️⃣ Reflection: The Missing Piece in Goal Achievement

Most people don’t fail because they set the wrong goals.
They fail because they never pause to reflect, adjust, and realign.

We tend to operate in two modes:

  1. Full speed ahead 🚀 – Excited, ambitious, taking action.
  2. Completely stuck 🛑 – Burned out, lost, or overwhelmed.

But the best performers intentionally pause. They review what’s working, what’s not, and what needs tweaking.

💡 Think of it like flying a plane. A pilot doesn’t set the route once and hope for the best. They’re constantly checking instruments, adjusting altitude, and correcting their course based on real-time feedback.

Quarterly planning gives you a structured way to check your course, make necessary tweaks, and keep moving forward—without drifting off track.

How to Design Your Quarter in 3 Simple Steps

1️⃣ Review & Reflect

  • What worked well in the last 90 days?
  • What didn’t go as planned, and why?
  • What’s one major lesson you’ve learned?

2️⃣ Reset & Refocus

  • What are the 2-3 most important priorities for the next 90 days?
  • What distractions need to be eliminated?
  • What habits and routines will support your success?

3️⃣ Reignite & Execute

  • What’s the first small step you can take this week?
  • How will you track progress and stay accountable?
  • What’s your commitment to following through?

Final Thought: The Next 90 Days Are in Your Hands

Time is going to pass anyway. The question is—will you let another quarter slip by, or will you take control of it?

The best part? You don’t have to do this alone.

If you’d like a structured way to pause, reflect, and reset before your next 90-day sprint, join me for:
