One Minute NLP – Using NLP to overcome procrastination

Procrastination can be a major roadblock to productivity, but NLP offers techniques to help you break the cycle.

One effective NLP method is Future Pacing. Start by visualizing yourself completing the task which you have been putting off. Imagine the sense of relief and accomplishment you’ll feel once it’s done. Focus on how your future self benefits from taking action now.

Another approach is using Submodalities. If the task seems overwhelming, try visualizing it as smaller, less intimidating. Picture it in black-and-white or shrink it down in your mind to make it feel more manageable.

Finally, the Swish Pattern can be used to replace the urge to procrastinate with a strong desire to take action. Picture yourself avoiding the task, then quickly replace that image with one of you successfully completing it.

Use these NLP techniques to rewire your mind to overcome procrastination and boost your productivity.

Meta Magic – Two Paths to Your Purpose

Two friends from the same village decided to embark on a journey into the unknown. Neither had chosen a specific city to head towards, but both agreed it would be wise to seek the blessings of the Sage who lived in the nearby forest.

“Respected Guruji, we have come to seek your blessings as we set out to explore other cities and begin new journeys of our own,” one of the friends requested, folding his hands in respect.

“I am pleased to hear about your new journey, my sons. I wonder, what prompted you to leave your city and seek a new path?” the Sage asked, raising his eyebrows.

“I despise my city because the people there are selfish. I’m moving to a new city where I can find my purpose and live abundantly,” one of the friends replied enthusiastically.

“Oh, my son! In that case, I’m afraid you won’t find any city that will grant you eternal abundance,” the Sage advised, urging him to reconsider and return to his city.

“Oh revered Sage! I love my city deeply, and I’m curious to discover the many other beautiful and fulfilling cities out there. I simply want to experience similar goodness in other places,” the other friend responded with a warm smile, his love for his city evident in his eyes.

“Bravo, my son! Go forth on your journey into the unknown. I know you will find your purpose. My blessings are with you,” the Sage said, placing his hand on the second friend’s head in blessing.

Our lives reflect our perceptions. If we only see darkness in the present, that same darkness will surround us. But if we light up from within and perceive light outside, life will mirror that brightness.

When it comes to finding purpose, which path will you choose?

Hook From The Book

“Happiness is a mental habit, a mental attitude, and if it is not learned and practised in the present, it is never experienced. It cannot be made contingent upon solving some external problem. When one problem is solved, another appears to take its place. Life is a series of problems. If you are to be happy at all, you must be happy – period! Not happy “because of”.” ― Maxwell Maltz, Psycho-Cybernetics

Movie Motivation

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.” This quote from the movie The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring emphasizes the importance of choice and decision-making, which teaches that we are in control of our responses and actions in any given situation.

One Minute NLP – Anchoring Positive Emotions

Anchoring is a powerful NLP technique that allows you to trigger positive emotions on demand.

The concept is simple: by associating a specific gesture, word, or touch with a positive emotional state, you can “anchor” that feeling to be recalled whenever needed. Here is how it works:

  1. Recall a Positive Memory: Think of a moment when you felt truly confident, happy, or motivated. Immerse yourself in that memory, focusing on the feelings it evokes.
  2. Set the Anchor: While fully experiencing the positive emotion, choose a simple gesture or word, like pressing your thumb and forefinger together or saying a word like “power.” This gesture or word becomes your anchor.
  3. Reinforce the Anchor: Repeat the process several times, each time reinforcing the association between the gesture or word and the positive emotion.
  4. Use the Anchor: In moments of stress or doubt, use the anchor to instantly recall the positive emotions and boost your state of mind.

Anchoring is a quick and effective way to manage emotions, stay motivated, and enhance performance in any situation.

Meta Magic – The Deer Or The Bird?

A poor man, who relied on hunting to feed himself, set out on his hunt.

“Ah, luck is on my side today. The journey has just begun, and I already see the bird,” he said to himself.

The bird, perched on a low branch, was easy to catch.

The poor man decided to call it a day and head back home.

Just as he was turning around, he spotted a plump and healthy deer grazing nearby. The poor man’s eyes suddenly gleamed with greed.

He drew his bow and arrow, aiming for the deer. He knew the bird would fly away as soon as he set it aside, but he was undeterred, for all he could focus on was the deer before him. His mouth watered at the thought of feasting on the deer.

He took a deep breath and closed his eyes to steady his aim, but alas! The deer heard the bird’s flapping wings and spotted the poor man. In an instant, it fled.

Now, the poor man was left with nothing. Like a fleeting dream, the deer had vanished, and the bird, his certain meal, had flown away.

My question to you is: Are you chasing the deer and letting go of your bird?

Hook From The Book

“But books were different. They had lots of blanks. Blanks between words and even between lines. I could squeeze myself in there and sit, or walk, or scribble down my thoughts. It didn’t matter if I had no idea what the words meant. Turning the pages was half the battle.” ― Won-pyung Sohn, Almond

Movie Motivation

“Your mind is the scene of the crime.” This quote from the movie Inception reminds us that our internal representations (thoughts, memories, beliefs) shape our reality. Understanding and reprogramming these internal representations is key to changing behaviour and achieving desired outcomes.
