ā³ One Minute NLP
NLP for Building Instant Rapport
Ever met someone and instantly felt at ease with them? Thatās rapportāand in NLP, itās not luck, itās a skill you can learn. Rapport happens when people feel seen, heard, and understood. One simple way to build it?Ā Mirroring.
Gently match the other personās body language, tone, and pace of speech. If theyāre calm and soft-spoken, meet them there. If theyāre upbeat and animated, raise your energy to match. This creates a subconscious sense of āweāre alike,ā which builds trust.
You can also match theirĀ language style. Do they use visual words like āI see what you meanā or feeling words like āThat feels rightā? Speak their language and youāll connect more deeply.
Rapport opens doors in conversations, relationships, and negotiations. With NLP, you learn to build it consciouslyāmaking others feel safe, respected, and willing to engage. Because when connection comes first, everything else flows.

How Often Do You Check Your Own Performance?Ā
A little boy named Tom walked into a grocery store and politely asked to use the phone. The store owner nodded, curious.
Tom dialed a number and said, āHello, maāam. Do you need someone to mow your lawn?ā
A pause.
āOh, you already have someone? I can do it for half the price.ā
Another pause.
āIāll even sweep your sidewalk and curb for free. Donāt you want the best lawn in the neighborhood?ā
A final, polite refusal. Tom smiled and hung up.
The store owner, impressed by the boyās determination, approached him. āYouāve got a great attitude, son. Iād like to hire you.ā
Tom grinned. āThanks, but I already have a job.ā
Surprised, the owner asked, āBut⦠you were just asking for one?ā
Tom winked. āNo, sir. I was checking how well Iām doing at the one Iāve got.Ā That call was to the lady I already work for. I just wanted to see if she still thinks Iām the best choice.ā
My Question to you isĀ – āWhen was the last timeĀ youĀ checked how well youāre doingāwithout waiting for someone else to tell you?ā

š Hook from the Book
āWe need to be allowed to convince ourselves that we’re more than the mistakes we made yesterday. That we are all of our next choices, too, all of our tomorrows.āĀ āĀ Fredrik Backman, Anxious People
š¬ Movie Motivation
āOur lives are defined by opportunities, even the ones we miss.āĀ This dialogue from the movieĀ The Curious Case of Benjamin ButtonĀ ties into the NLP concept of seizing opportunities and makingĀ choicesĀ that shape our destiny. It reflects the idea that recognizing and acting on opportunities, even missed ones, can lead to growth and transformation.
