The Power of Calibration

Have you ever walked into a room and just known something was off, even before anyone said a word?

That’s calibration – a core NLP skill.

It’s your ability to notice subtle shifts in someone’s physiology, tone, or facial expression. Not to label, but to become aware. When someone says, “I’m fine,” but their shoulders droop or their smile doesn’t reach their eyes – your calibrated senses pick that up.

NLP doesn’t teach you to read minds. It trains you to read patterns.

You don’t need psychic powers – just presence. Watch. Listen. Compare what’s now to what was before. That shift is the message.

Want better communication? Start with calibration. Because the words may lie, but the body always whispers the truth.

Listen closely – it’s all there.

Does the Ghost bring out the Devil in You?

A donkey was tied to a tree. One night a ghost cut the rope and released the donkey. The donkey went and destroyed the crops in a farmer’s land. Infuriated, the farmer’s wife shot the donkey and killed it.

The donkey’s owner was devastated at the loss. In reply, he shot dead the farmer’s wife. Enraged by his wife’s death, the farmer took a sickle and killed the donkey’s owner.

The wife of the donkey’s owner got so angry that she and her sons set the farmer’s house on fire.

The farmer, looking at his house turned into ashes, went ahead and killed both the wife and children of that donkey’s owner.

Finally, when the farmer was full of regret, he asked the ghost as to why did it kill them all?

The ghost replied, “I killed nobody. I just released a donkey that was tied to a rope. It is all of you who released the devil within you which resulted into everything bad that happened.”

My Question: Are you letting the ghost bring out your inner devil?

📖 Hook from the Book

“Sometimes growing doesn’t mean doing a complete one-eighty and becoming someone totally new. Sometimes it’s just becoming surer of the person you already are. You should never let yourself feel like you’re not better than the person you were yesterday, because you become better every single day.” — Writing Mr. Right By Alina Khwaja

🎬 Movie Motivation

The ancient Egyptians had a beautiful belief about death. When their souls got to the entrance to heaven, the gods asked them two questions. Their answers determined whether they were admitted or not.
The first question was, ‘Have you found joy in your life?’
The second was, ‘Has your life brought joy to others?'”
”

This dialogue from the movie The Bucket List shifts focus from mere existence to purposeful living and emotional impact.

Reframing – Change the Frame, Change the Game

Ever looked at a photo differently just by cropping it? That’s exactly what reframing does—with your thoughts.

In NLP, reframing is the art of shifting perspective. It’s not about denying reality, but choosing a lens that serves you better. Didn’t get the job? It’s not rejection—it’s redirection. Nervous before speaking? Maybe it’s not fear—it’s your energy gearing up for performance.

When you change the frame, the meaning changes – and so does your response.

Explore this: next time something frustrates you, ask, “What else could this mean?” or “How could this be useful?” You’ll be surprised how your emotional state shifts when your mind starts seeing new possibilities.

Reframing doesn’t erase challenges; it equips you to meet them with power. Because in NLP, we don’t wait for the world to change. We change the way we see the world.

It’s Not About What You Are Selling

Markita Andrews wasn’t just any Girl Scout. She was a little sales magician with pigtails. By the age of seven, she was already changing the game — selling cookies like a pro and turning pavements into her personal sales stage. By the time she wrapped up her Girl Scout journey, she had sold over $70,000 worth of cookies!

So, what was her secret? Simple — charm, consistency, and zero excuses. After school, she’d go door to door. No whining, no waiting. Just cookies, courage, and commitment.

One day, she was invited to a live TV show. The producer wanted a little drama and gave her a challenge on air: “See that guest over there? Try selling him a dozen boxes.”

Now, that guest? He wasn’t your typical friendly neighbour. He was a Federal Penitentiary warden — tough as nails. Arms crossed, he looked her in the eye and said, “Cookies? I don’t buy cookies. I’m a warden. I deal with murderers, thieves, and rapists every day. Sweet stuff’s not my thing.”

Most kids would have backed off. Not Markita.

She gave him a warm smile and, with a sparkle in her eyes, replied, “Sir, maybe if you had some of these cookies, you wouldn’t look so angry, evil, and mean.”

The whole room went silent.

“And maybe,” she added, “if you took back a box for each of your thousand prisoners, it might just be the kindest thing anyone’s done for them in a long time.”

Everyone was stunned.

The warden didn’t say a word. He just reached into his pocket… and pulled out his cheque book.

That was her moment. No more words needed. Just a proud smile.

NLP and the Power of Future Pacing

Ever made a powerful decision in a workshop or coaching session… only to slip back into old patterns later?

That’s where Future Pacing steps in.

In NLP, future pacing is like a mental rehearsal. You imagine yourself in a future situation—one where your new behaviour, habit, or mindset is needed—and you seehear, and feel yourself handling it brilliantly.

Why does this work? Because your brain doesn’t fully distinguish between real and vividly imagined experiences. When you mentally practise success, you create neural pathways that make it easier to live it out for real.

So next time you commit to a new habit, don’t stop at awareness—take it forward. Close your eyes, step into your future self, and walk through that upcoming moment as the person you choose to be.

Your mind rehearses. Your body follows. That’s future pacing in action.

Love Finds Its Way

The young man sat behind cold prison bars for a crime he didn’t commit, counting the days not to freedom, but to the next letter from home.

One morning, it came.

A letter from his aging father, hands trembling from years of toil, now too weak to work their land:

“Son, the season’s come again… but I can’t plant this year. My body won’t let me dig.
If only you were here. You always knew how to turn earth into hope.”

The son read the letter over and over, his heart heavy, but then, an idea sparked.

He picked up a pen and wrote back:

“Dad, don’t even think about touching that soil. I buried something in that field: guns. All over the place. You dig, we’re both done.”

That letter didn’t just reach his father.
It reached the prison manager.
And the local police.

The next day, officers swarmed the farm, digging up every inch of earth, hunting for weapons that didn’t exist.

But of course… they found nothing.

A week later, the father received another letter.

“Dad, that’s all I could do from here. The ground’s ready.
Plant your crops. Grow your hope.
I may be locked in, but love… finds a way.”

NLP and the Anchoring of Confidence

Imagine this—you walk into a room, about to speak, and confidence washes over you like a familiar tune. That’s NLP anchoring in action.

Anchoring is about linking a physical gesture (like pressing two fingers together) to a specific emotional state (like confidence, calm, or excitement). You condition your mind to associate the two—so when you trigger the gesture, the feeling returns.

It’s like having a remote control for your state of mind.

Athletes use it. Speakers use it. You can too. Just recall a moment when you felt incredibly confident. Relive it fully, and at the emotional peak—anchor it with a unique touch or motion. Repeat it a few times.

And next time you need that boost? Fire the anchor. Confidence—on cue.

Would you choose Truth or Triumph?

A wise emperor once knew his time was coming.

He had four sons – brilliant, ambitious, capable.
But who among them had the character to lead?

So, he gave each of them a single seed.

“Plant this,” he said.
“Nurture it for a year. Return and show me what you’ve grown.
The one with the best result shall wear the crown.”

The sons bowed and left with determination in their eyes.

A year passed.

The emperor summoned them.

One by one, three sons stepped forward – each with pots blooming with colour, fragrance, and pride.
Impressive. Picture-perfect. Instagrammable, if you will.

And then… came Aaron, the youngest.

His pot held nothing but soil.
No leaf. No green. Just brown, bare honesty.

The murmurs began.
Some chuckled. Some pitied.

But the emperor… he smiled.

He turned to Aaron and asked gently,
“Why is your pot empty, son?”

Aaron looked down.
“I did all I could,” he said. “Watered it, gave it sun, waited with hope. But… nothing ever grew.”

Silence.

And then, the emperor stood tall.

“This,” he said, pointing to Aaron, “is your next emperor.”

Gasps. Shock. Disbelief.

“The seeds I gave you… were boiled. Lifeless. They were never meant to grow.

Three of you chose beauty over integrity.
Only Aaron chose truth over triumph.”

And just like that—leadership was not decided by what they grew.
But by what they didn’t fake.

🎬 Movie Motivation

NLP and the Magic of Collaboration

Ever had a conversation where someone said “I’m fine” but their face, tone, and posture told a different story? That’s a moment where calibration could change everything.

In NLP, calibration is your ability to notice subtle shifts in another person’s physiology, tone, or energy. It’s like tuning into the signals behind the words. A raised eyebrow. A change in breathing. A pause that wasn’t there before.

Calibrating doesn’t mean mind-reading. It means being present enough to notice. Curious enough to explore. And respectful enough to ask, not assume.

Whether you’re coaching, selling, leading, or simply listening—your power to connect lies in your power to notice. Because when you’re calibrated, you don’t just hear the words. You hear the person.

Have You Found Your Gardener Yet?

Michael, the CEO of a growing tech firm, often praised his executive assistant, Clara. “She’s exceptional, organized, quick, and completely reliable,” he told anyone who’d listen.

One day, Raj, the Vice President of Operations, decided to see for himself. He stopped by Michael’s office under the pretense of a quick chat, but really to observe Clara in action.

She didn’t disappoint. Every call was handled smoothly, every file in place, every detail right. After watching her work for a while, Raj was genuinely impressed.

During a break, he approached her. “Clara, your boss thinks the world of you. And after seeing you in action, I get it. You’re clearly outstanding. Tell me, what’s your secret?”

Clara smiled. “The secret is that I have the best gardener.”

Raj raised an eyebrow. “Gardener?”

She nodded. “Yes. You just saw the fruit, a glowing report. I’m the healthy tree that produced it. But I didn’t grow alone. Michael, my boss, is the gardener. He fed me the right fertilizer: appreciation. Not just when I delivered big results, but even when I was just starting out, when I was still a novice. He noticed the little things. That made all the difference.”

My question – Have you found your best gardener?

NLP and the Power of Future Pacing

Ever walked out of a seminar feeling inspired, only to fall back into old habits a week later? That’s where future pacing steps in. It’s an NLP technique that helps you mentally rehearse success before it happens.

Here’s how it works: once you’ve learned something new—maybe a mindset shift or a behaviour change—you imagine using it in a future situation. Vividly. Sensory-rich. Like a movie in your mind where you see, hear, and feel yourself handling the situation brilliantly.

Why does this matter? Because the brain doesn’t always distinguish between what’s imagined and what’s real. So future pacing creates familiarity—and familiarity breeds confidence.

Next time you learn a new tool, don’t just store it. Play it forward. That’s how you turn insight into action. And action into transformation.

One Curious Case of Two Words

The press conference had just ended, but one curious young reporter wasn’t done yet. With notebook in hand and ambition in his eyes, he approached the elderly tycoon who had just spoken about his journey through decades of business storms and triumphs.

“Sir,” the reporter asked, “may I know the secret of your success?”

The businessman smiled, as if he’d heard this question a thousand times. “Two words,” he said.

The reporter leaned in. “What are those two words?”

“Right decisions.”

“Of course,” the reporter nodded. “But how do you make the right decisions?”

The man’s eyes twinkled. “One word.”

“Which is?”

“Experience.”

A pause. The reporter scribbled quickly, then looked up again. “And how do you get experience?”

The tycoon chuckled, the sound worn and wise. “Two words.”

The young man’s pen hovered. “Which are…?”

“Wrong decisions.”

MY Question – What are your two words of success?
